address, mobile number, gender, and the email id provided on the Aadhaar card.
For the purpose of changing the details of the Aadhaar card online, following
are the steps to be undertaken:
Stage 1. Firstly, one has to log on to the Aadhaar’s Self Service
Update Portal (SSUP).
Stage 2. The person has to respond to the “Proceed” button after
they have read the given instructions in detail.
Stage 3. The individual is asked to key in their 12-digit Aadhaar
number.
Stage 4. The individual is prompted to add the text verification
code into the captcha box and then click on the send OTP tab.
Stage 5. The OTP would be sent to a registered mobile number
connected to the Aadhaar card as per the UIDAI’s database.
Stage 6. The individual has to enter the received OTP so as to log
in to their Aadhaar account for the purpose of editing the details.
Stage 7. Alternately, one can also use the available TOTP feature
for the purpose of authentication.
Stage 8. Here, the individual has to select the field which they want
to edit. For the purpose of understanding the further process in detail, let us
assume that the individual wishes to edit the details of his address. So, the
person has to check the address option and press the submit tab.
Stage 9. Next, the individual has to enter the residential address
which is mentioned in their Proof of Address (PoA).
Stage 10. Once done, the person has to click on a “Submit Update
Request” tab.
Stage 11. If the individual already has entered the address details
earlier and wants to alter the same, then they have to opt for the “Modify”
option.
Stage 12. Next, the person has to tick on the declaration form and
tap on the “Proceed” tab.
Stage 13. One has to now choose the document type that they wish to
upload as a PoA for the purpose of verification. In case an individual is
editing another field such as date of birth or name, the valid and appropriate
document has to be selected.
The PoA is to be uploaded for the purpose of Aadhaar verification
Stage 14. As a PoA, in the given situation, the person has to upload
a scanned image of their address proof and then click on the “Submit” tab.
Stage 15. There would be a confirmation dialogue. One has to read it
and then just click the “Yes” option.
Stage 16. Next, from the options given, one has to choose a BPO
service provider who would verify the details. Once done, the submit tab has to
be clicked.
Stage 17. For the purpose of the Aadhar card correction online, the
BPO service provider would inspect if the given details as per the form have a
match with the POA submitted. Once the matching is done, the request is
forwarded to the UIDAI authorities for the purpose of editing.
Stage 18. The update request is accepted and a slip of
Acknowledgement is given to the individual with a unique number. This is called
the Update Request number (URN). One can use this to check the Aadhaar card update status.
Once the relevant information has been updated in the Aadhaar card,
one can easily download the updated e-Aadhaar card and get the print out of the
Aadhaar card.
