How to Link your Bank Account with Aadhaar
Have you linked your Aadhaar card with your
bank account? If no, then ask yourself - why. Don’t you know that the Indian
government has asked for all citizens to link their 12-digit Aadhaar card
number to a bank account? Failure to link may result in deactivation of your
bank account. You can begin by checking the Aadhaar status.

different ways through which you can link your bank account with Aadhaar card.
Aadhaar
Card link to Bank Account via Internet Banking or Net Banking
This is the most convenient option for linking
your Aadhaar card with bank account. You can do this from the comfort of your
home or office, wherever there is internet. For this, you will have to visit
the official website of your bank where you have the account.
- Go
the online banking portal of the bank.
- Login
with your net banking customer ID and password.
- Select
the Update Aadhaar with Bank Account tab under the My Accounts section.
- For
some banks, you need to click on the Service Request tab and then select
View/Update Aadhaar option.
- Next,
select the account to which you want to link the Aadhaar card number.
- Next,
Re-enter your Aadhar number twice for confirmation.
- Click
on Confirm or Submit.
- Congratulations!
Your Aadhaar card linking to bank account has been successful.
Aadhaar
Card link to Bank Account via Mobile Application
For this option, you will have to download the
official mobile application of your respective bank.
- Login
to your mobile banking app.
- Scroll
down and select the ‘Service Request’ tab.
- Under
this, select View/Update Aadhaar details tab.
- Next,
enter your Aadhaar number twice and confirm the same.
- Next,
click on Submit.
- Now,
you will get a message via SMS text that Aadhaar card linking to bank account
is complete.
- You
can confirm the same by check Aadhar status.
Aadhaar
Card link to Bank Account via Branch Banking
This is one of the assured ways to get your
Aadhaar card linked to bank account.
- Visit
the nearest bank branch or website to download the Aadhaar updation
application form.
- Fill
in all details carefully such as your 12-digital Aadhaar card number.
- Attach
a self-attested photocopy of your Aadhaar card and submit it at the bank
with the application form.
- Verify
the same with your original Aadhaar card.
- Post
submission, the bank will accept your application and link Aadhaar card
number to bank account within 24 hours.
- You
can check Aadhaar status with the tracking number mentioned on the
acknowledgement slip

Card link to Bank Account via ATM
Account holders can also get their Aadhaar
card linked to bank account by visiting an ATM.
- Visit
the ATM and swipe your ATM cum debit card.
- Select
the Service Request option.
- Next,
select the Update Aadhaar/Aadhaar Registration option.
- Next,
chose your type of account and enter your Aadhaar card number.
- Re-enter
the Aadhaar number for confirmation and submit.
- Now,
you will get a confirmation that

Card link to Bank Account via SMS Text
Remember, this service is not available for
all banks. Mentioned below is an example of State Bank of India.
- To
begin with, you need to send a SMS text message in a specified format as
prescribed by your bank.
- For
SBI, you need to send the message in this format: UID
<space>12-digit Aadhaar number<space>Bank account number.
- Next,
send this text message to 567676.
- Post
sending, you will get a confirmation message that your service request has
been submitted.
- Next,
the bank will verify your details UIDAI and update the same.
- In
case the banks is unable to verify, you will have to visit the local
branch to rectify the same.
Aadhar Card link to Bank Account
via Phone Banking
This is another option, but not all banks
provide the facility of linking Aadhaar card over the phone. If your bank does
provide this facility, you can follow the mentioned steps below:
- First,
you need to figure out if the bank supports Aadhaar seeding over the
phone. Simply call the customer service number and speak to the IVR and
they will provide various options.
- Next,
select the IVR option for Aadhaar updation via dial-up number selection.
- Next,
enter you Aadhaar number and confirm the same.
- Post
submission, you will get a text message that your 12-digit Aadhaar card
number is successfully linked with your account.
